The Social Significance of CORUNUM × Design
First, let me introduce CORUNUM's Design Department. At CORUNUM, we have what we call "CORUNUM Art," through which we promote a diverse range of art with different values and backgrounds to create a symbiotic society where people connect with one another.
As part of this initiative, we are engaged in product design, where we incorporate CORUNUM Art into our product designs. Through this, we deliver new perspectives and background knowledge to the general public via art.
More than half of the revenue generated from this business is returned to the artists. For those who are often part of the welfare system, this experience of "earning for oneself" helps improve their self-esteem, boosts their motivation for artistic activities, and creates a sense of purpose in life.
While there may be other companies or organizations that operate similar initiatives, CORUNUM differs in both its purpose and methods. We are committed to promoting universal art activities that are not evaluated based on "disabilities" or "backgrounds." The goal of this design project is to create new values and ways of thinking through products, contributing to the realization of a symbiotic society where diverse perspectives are respected.
Collaboration with Very Co., Ltd
We have been collaborating with Very Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of dog wear and other pet products, for about two years. Together, we co-create products incorporating "CORUNUM Art." Through these creations, our aim is to spread CORUNUM Art and convey diverse values and perspectives to a wider audience.
Berry Co., Ltd., headquartered in Taito Ward, Tokyo, specializes in the production and sale of dog clothing and pet accessories, available at home improvement stores across Japan and on their own e-commerce site. They create a wide range of adorable dog clothing, and together with CORUNUM, we collaborate on producing seasonal collections for both summer and winter.
The Appeal of CORUNUM Art and Design
"CORUNUM Art" is filled with diverse charms that cannot be expressed in a single word. It’s somewhat difficult to fully convey, but I would be delighted if we could share this unique appeal with as many people as possible.
As mentioned in our blog, CORUNUM Art is distinct from disabled or Para art in that it encompasses a wide range of art forms. The variety of backgrounds, including disabilities and different life circumstances, blend together, resulting in completely unique artworks even when artists are given the same theme.
For instance, if we ask CORUNUM artists to "paint a mountain," each artist will express a different "message they wish to convey" through their work.
Therefore, even though we refer to it collectively as CORUNUM Art, it represents a diverse intersection of values and perspectives. Each piece of art carries with it its own background and story.
At CORUNUM, we aim to communicate these stories to the general public, fostering empathy and connection between people. Our goal is to create a society where individuals recognize and enhance each other's strengths and backgrounds, building a more connected and supportive community.
CORUNUM × Dog Wear
Let me briefly explain the collaboration between CORUNUM and Very. As part of CORUNUM's design business, we have been involved in the creation of dog wear. This project, which started in 2023, is now in its third phase!
We will share more information as soon as the project is completed, so please stay tuned and keep an eye on our blog for updates!
In this collaboration between CORUNUM and Berry Co., Ltd., artists who usually work in employment support facilities or share their diverse backgrounds are able to showcase their artwork. Through this, we aim to create a future where their unique backgrounds are valued and recognized.

Future Development of the Design Department
In the future, our design team will collaborate with even more companies to bring CORUNUM’s designs to a wider audience. From business card designs to product and poster designs, we will continue to expand our offerings using CORUNUM Art, promoting it throughout society with more products and services!
